Joshua Cortes serves as Vice President on the Corporate and Legislation team at Kasirer. He brings over 13 years of experience in public service, with a focus on government relations, public policy, communications, and strategic operations. Joshua applies his deep knowledge of governmental processes and his commitment to public affairs to support and advance the objectives of Kasirer’s corporate and legislative clients. He is known for his collaborative approach, policy expertise, and ability to drive results in dynamic, high-stakes environments.
Prior to joining Kasirer, Joshua held several senior roles in city and state government, including positions in elected officials' offices and public agencies, where he led high-impact initiatives, executed robust communications strategies, and developed strategic partnerships. Most recently, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff at the New York Power Authority, advising senior leadership on key political and operational decisions. Before NYPA, he served as Senior Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations and as Chief of Staff at the Bureau of Customer Services at the NYC Department of Environmental Protection. He also held the role of Assistant Director in the Office of Communications and Policy at the NYC Department of Design and Construction, and served as Bronx Borough Director at the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit under the de Blasio administration, among other positions.
Joshua holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and English from the City University of New York and pursued a Master of Public Administration at Columbia University. A Bronx native, he remains actively engaged in civic and community-based initiatives and has built strong relationships with stakeholders and decision-makers across New York City. These relationships help ensure Kasirer’s clients are well-positioned to achieve their legislative and regulatory priorities.
